How can I securely erase these things? I get lucky and sometimes the computer wakes up after I force sleep/wake the machine to try and 'wake' the SSD, and sometimes, no matter what I try I cannot get it to wake up to finish to erase the SSD. There is nothing that I can do, other than remove the SSD and put it in a desktop, wipe it, and then reinstall it into the laptop (if the SSD is a 2.5 inch SATA). As you may know, wiping SSD's in a laptop can be tricky, as booting from a usb, the SSD does not wake, which means the ATA erase cannot be performed.

With that being said, everything that we sell need to have the HDD either sanitized or destroyed, and our SSD's are wiped with Parted Magic ATA Secure erase. Most SSD makers have their own wiping tools, which are always free. It saw the ssd but neither the enhanced secure erase or the non enhanced secure erase changed anything they both reported as completed but the drive is still locked. I have limited experience but have extensively investigated for my own use of an OCZ make of SSD. I tried parted magic with default settings and not connecting the ssd until it booted. But then it says to try parted magic using an option to write the zeros to the drive. It first describes 'ATA secure erase' as a 'command' which does the voltage Spike. What is Parted Magic Parted Magic is an open source partitioning tool. So basically this is most effective way to erase data on your SSD at the hardware level and not software.
